Our Story

I plan to add a lot more infertility information and support sites on this page; however, I have to go out searching for it first. Please check back soon!

Bobbi and Juan Grino

We would like to introduce ourselves...Juan and I were High School sweethearts. We met my Junior year and his Senior year at the ripe old age of 16 and 17! We began dating on October 1, 1988 and were married seven long years later on September 30, 1995.

Six months into our marriage we became pregnant with our first child; however, it wasn't meant to be and we had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. I went to a specialist at that point that discovered I had a fertility problem called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This would only be the beginning of our many doctors visits and tests. After receiving this news we went to a fertility specialist and began the rigorous task of trying to become pregnant once again. After 8 unsuccessful months on the drug Clomid, we opted to try the fertility shot Fertinex and we became pregnant on the first try!

When I took the blood test, the nurse said that my Quantitative Beta was really high. She then explained that it usually meant multiple births if the number was that high. Needless to say, I was really nervous at our first ultrasound. Although, the ultrasound only showed one baby, and the doctor explained that I must have just been further along than they had originally suspected. Our second ultrasound is when we recieved the bad news that this pregnancy, for reasons only God knows, was over at 7 weeks.

After waiting a few months for physical and emotional healing, we tried again. We got pregnant once again on the first try! We went to our first ultrasound with mixed emotions. We weren't telling anyone that we were pregnant due to our last pregnancies. WELL, at this ultrasound, the doctor said, "IT'S TWINS!", "NO I SEE THREE", "NO I THINK I SEE FOUR!" I said, "STOP LOOKING!" The doctor laughed and said, "No it's JUST triplets!!!! We were happy and scared at the same time. Each week at our ultrasounds I kept waiting for the bad news, but each week we were still pregnant! Now we have three of the most beautiful babies in the world!

The pregnancy went pretty well, I was put on bedrest at 24 weeks and went into premature labor at 29 weeks. After an eight day stay in the hospital and a horrible experience with Magnesium Sulfate (gaining 20 pounds overnight from water gain), they let me go home. I managed to keep them in the womb for three more weeks, but my blood pressure was rising. They gave me a blood pressure cuff for home and had me check it several times a day and call in the results. I also had to check my urine for protein. They were keeping a close eye on me to make sure that I wasn't getting preeclampsia. On February 27, 1998 I called in my results and they said that they wanted me to come in for observation. I begged them to let me retake my blood pressure and re-dip my urine. I was convinced that I just did it wrong, and didn't want to go back to the hospital again. They said "NO". I called Juan and said that I'd just have my sister take me, and that I'd call him and let him know what was going on. I told him that everything was fine and that I'd be home that evening! Well, my sister and I got to the hospital at 2 pm and they checked me over and took some blood. They told me that the results would take an hour and to just sit and relax. I was having such a nice time talking to my sister that I completely forgot to call Juan and let him know what was going on! The doctor came in at 3 pm and said that she was going to deliver the babies at 4 pm!! Needless to say, I called Juan right away! He and our families rushed to the hospital and the triplets were born at 6:16 and 6:17 pm. And the rest, as they say, is HISTORY!
